Although the project existed already for quite some time it is only presented to the public as of this moment. As the whole site is still in it's kick off phase, meaning content is flowing in slowly bit by bit. This means that not all we want to present is there right now. IN case you miss anything or something is not working as expected, please drop is a mail or use the contact form. That said, lets now have a very brief overview of the project itself and how it might be helpful for you.
The FixMPTS project stared off as a proof of concept to demonstrate it would be possible to build a reliable ATM aircraft tracking solution, not making use of one of the various Kalman Filters, as used in most such cases these days, but utilizing the Particle Filter instead. This change in tracking algorithm would allow for a distributed and easy parallelisable solution, which could be scaled up depending on the needs and the area covered. As it turned out this is not only possible but it also reached a state where it actually could be an interesting piece of software to be used in the real world of air traffic control.
The intend of the FixMPTS project is not to generate revenue. It started off and still is a free time project to learn the concepts involved, therefore it is published under the GNU lesser general public license (LGPL) as free and open source software.
For a more detailed reading on the project especially what iit can do please have a look at the sub pages. If you have any feedback or questions please do not hesitate to send us an email or use the contact form.
